Brown Sugar Fan’s Dream Come True: R&B Tea’s Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cheese Brûlée

A friend of mine once mentioned that R&B 巡茶’s brown sugar series is a very close rival to the highly popular Tiger Sugar! As a big fan of brown sugar drinks, there was no way I could contain my excitement so I went down right away to give it a try!

Without hesitation, I got my hands on the Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cheese Brûlée. Caution: this is not a drink for the faint hearted! Look at the amount of brown sugar, tea, and cheese foam in the cup! They are of equal proportions and each take up about 1/3 of the drink. Unlike the usual (*cough* LiHO *cough*) cheese drinks, the luscious cheese foam from R&B Tea compliments the drink and the brown sugar so well!

The pearls from R&B deserves an honorable mention. I got this drink on the same day as KECha’s Premium Earl Grey Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Pearl so I did a comparison. R&B Tea’s pearls are brown, unlike KECha. This could be an indication that their pearls are infused with brown sugar not just soaked, which explains why they are so flavourful! I could taste the sweetness with every bite.

The highlight of this drink would definitely be the Cheese Brûlée! R&B’s cheese foam with caramelised sugar is what differentiates them from the rest. Only the center of the cheese foam was torched to avoid melting the plastic cup, missing some of the sugar on the circumference. The drink would have tasted way more consistent if all of the sugar were caramelised evenly, but it already tastes pretty good at this point so I’m not complaining.

I shall not comment further on the packaging as R&B also uses that same bear shaped cap I’ve seen in at least 3 other stores.

The regular sized Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cheese Brûlée cost $4.80 and I personally think that’s enough for the day. The drink is so rich, I might feel full even before having a meal. Too much of this would leave you feeling jelak.

Overall, I would rate the packaging 3/10, and taste 9/10. I have yet to try Tiger Sugar, but in my opinion, this drink is soooo flavourful I don’t think any other brands would be able to top this recipe! Definitely worth a try if you love brown sugar milk!
